Life at Vouchsafe
When you're in the business of verifying identities, it matters who we are and what drives you
Chloe and I did not grow up dreaming about building a better identity verification tool.
ID verification itself may not be our passion, but accessibility certainly is. Specifically, helping people access the vital services they need and deserve.
That means removing barriers to opening bank accounts, employment, housing, credit, healthcare and democratic participation.
It also means taking aim at some of the biggest challenges of our time. Failures in how we verify identity are an important upstream cause of half a dozen social and economic crises that seem initially disconnected.
Vouchsafe exists to make vital services accessible to everyone, when they need them.
In other words, to take aim at a massive, overlooked barrier to access.
This is why we’re now the world experts on this seemingly-niche, vital problem.
This mission means we value things like:
Making it work for everyone from the start; particularly the underserved users that others ignore.
Finding the quick do; a great plan is worth nothing without the ability to execute it.
Thinking a step beyond the present; how could this go wrong? Who does it benefit?
Responsibility and accountability; we’re a small team tackling big problems, and pro-actively taking ownership is the only way to make it work.

We try to embody these values in our work culture:
One of the first decisions Chloe and I took was our four-day working week. It’s a bona fide, no-catch four-day week with no associated pay cut. It’s proven to make people happier at work as well as more productive.
We encourage flexible working, with time out for midday slumps and school pick-ups.
We work a mix of in-person and remote; time for independent work is important, as well as time to come together as a team to make decisions quickly.
We’ve headquartered ourselves at Peckham Levels, a former multi-storey carpark turned workspace and artistic hub. Our carbon footprint is commensurately tiny.
Chloe wrote about some of our working practices specifically to make our office hospitable for neurodiverse staff
If any of this sounds like a place you’d like to work, we have three open vacancies open for a few more days (UPDATE: now closed).
We’re open to constructive partnerships that bring us closer to our mission. If that’s you, email hello@vouchsafe.id.
